Corona - Otto Am Donaukanal

BRINGING THE CORONA BEACH FEELING TO VIENNA

In May 2026, we completed the new Otto Am Donaukanal beach terrace at the Donaukanal for Corona Beer / AbInbev and Litus Group. The ambition was to bring a real Corona beach feeling into the middle of Vienna. Not as a temporary event setup or festival build, but as a recurring summer terrace for an existing gastronomy location. A place that feels relaxed, warm and open, while still working smoothly for daily restaurant operations. From the first concept discussions to the final build, the project was developed as a complete brand experience. The goal was not simply to furnish an outdoor area, but to create a clear atmosphere with different zones, custom structures and a strong sense of arrival.

FROM EMPTY SURFACE TO SUMMER TERRACE

The project began with a professional site survey, which we organised as the basis for the spatial concept and planning. Building on this, we developed the architectural drawings, defined the layout and designed the key spatial elements of the terrace. Our role focused on concept, design, planning and the production of custom elements. This included the entrance, seating booths, furniture pieces, decorative structures and brand-related details produced together with our trusted production partners.

In the workshop, wood and metal components for the entrance, seating booths, custom furniture and decorative elements were produced and assembled for installation. Step by step, the previously empty outdoor area turned into a clearly structured hospitality terrace with a distinct Corona atmosphere.

A BRAND WORLD DESIGNED FOR ATMOSPHERE AND FUNCTION

The final terrace combines sand, decking, warm wood, handpicked furniture, custom seating, planted details and a clear arrival moment through the entrance arch. The furniture was selected to support the overall scene, from the right wood tones for tables and chairs to lamps that bring warmth into the terrace during evening service. These pieces were combined with custom-built elements to create a coherent setting rather than a collection of individual objects.

Around half of the terrace was filled with sand to create the beach atmosphere in a physical way. The remaining area uses decking to keep the gastronomy zones practical, clean and comfortable for everyday use. To structure the space without closing it off, we designed and built dividing walls with handmade rope curtains, as well as a rope fence that fits the beach-inspired setting. These elements create subtle separation between zones while keeping the terrace open and relaxed.

Almost every main visible element was designed, selected or produced specifically for Otto Am Donaukanal. The space includes an 8-metre double-sided oval bar, a custom entrance arch, four social seating booths, decorative branding walls, surfboard elements, a round high table with an integrated plant centrepiece, a welcome desk and service desk, selected tables, chairs and lamps, as well as the custom DJ booth and decorative stage wall. Another central element is a real, roughly 6-metre rowboat, which was transported, converted and integrated into the terrace as a lounge feature.

The DJ booth and stage wall were developed to create a more vibrant area for evenings, events and party moments. This allows the terrace to shift from relaxed daytime hospitality into a stronger social setting when needed. The result is a terrace with different seating situations, a clear spatial structure and an atmosphere that works from daytime drinks to evening service and late-night gatherings.
