Wildshut Brand Experience Areas at FREIHERZ
For the newly opened FREIHERZ at Vienna’s University Campus (formerly Altes AKH), we were asked to design two branded settings: a Wildshut brand experience area and a lounge concept for Wildshut Bio Perlage.
LATE INVOLVEMENT, HIGH IMPACT
We joined late in the renovation process. Even so, we presented two complete concepts for two distinct zones inside FREIHERZ. Due to timing and budget constraints, the full concepts could not be realised as planned — so we focused on a small number of iconic additions that would still anchor the spaces in the Wildshut brand world.
TRANSLATING WILDSHUT INTO SPACE: NATURE, ORIGIN, CIRCULARITY
Wildshut is built around a clear philosophy — working with nature, craft, and circular thinking, “from soil to glass.”
Our task was to make that attitude feel present in the space through material, light, rhythm and landscape-inspired motifs — without turning it into a message board.
THE WILDSHUT ELEMENTS: FEW PIECES, STRONG PRESENCE
For the Wildshut area, the following components were realised:
- Bar front design featuring a flowing topography motif with an integrated LED line — tying back to Wildshut’s “from soil to glass” approach.
- Signature ceiling light sculpture (approx. 2 m sine-wave) above the bar, inspired by Wildshut’s heritage grains — designed as a recognisable centerpiece.
- Two grain-based 2D artworks bringing raw material and origin into the room language.
- Two lightwave displays designed to transport guests into the atmosphere of the Wildshut estate — a calm, immersive counterpoint to the bar area.
- Targeted logo and brand integration at dedicated touchpoints across the space (signage, sightlines, bar zone) — placed where the brand naturally shows up in the guest journey.
- A reshuffle of the set-up to enable stronger product presentation and additional display opportunities.
WILDSHUT BIO PERLAGE: A LOUNGE SOLUTION UNDER TIME PRESSURE
For Wildshut Bio Perlage, the original concept could no longer be produced in time for opening. Even so, we were able to influence the final look and feel based on our presented concept through the integration of a curved wall and dedicated logo placement, giving the lounge its own recognisable identity.
As an additional, fast-to-implement solution, we designed custom high tables, derived from our mobile bar solution for Wildshut Bio Perlage. Built to work operationally and read premium: with an integrated bottle cooler and a restrained, Perlage-referential finish as a clean lounge anchor.
