Building on Success: Casa Bacardi Goes Full Scale and International
Following the success of the mini Casa Bacardi we created for Bacardi Austria at Nova Rock Festival in 2022, we won the pitch against 6 agencies from 3 different countries to create a full-scale, modular Casa Bacardi setup. Designed to tour the DACH region from 2023 to 2025, this project showcased our expertise in delivering a complete and seamless brand experience, covering concept, execution, and everything in between and beyond.
A Full-Service Approach
At revolvers, our involvement extended far beyond design and production. We handled every element of this ambitious project:
- Statics and Legal Requirements: Ensuring the entire setup received a Prüfbuch to prove its structural soundness and meet local regulations. We also coordinated with authorities across three countries to guarantee compliance and avoid surprises on-site.
- Tour Logistics: Planning efficient transport logistics using 5 to 7 trucks capable of carrying up to two 20" containers each, organizing cranes for precise on-site positioning, and managing import/export requirements, particularly for Switzerland.
- Event Planning & Communication: Liaising with festival organizers to integrate the setup seamlessly. This included organizing electricity, water, sound, and lighting systems to support the DJ lineup, as well as coordinating with local gastro teams to ensure smooth bar operations.
- On-Site: Project management, build-up, break-down, and live event management to guarantee flawless execution.
- Storage and Maintenance: During winter, we store the entire setup and ensure its maintenance and readiness for the next season.
Modular Design for Maximum Flexibility
The Casa Bacardi structure was built from 13 custom-designed containers, including 6 bar containers. Understanding the unique demands of each festival, we created a flexible design system that maintained a consistent core structurewhile allowing for customizable decorative elements.
Using an innovative hook-in system, decorative panels could be quickly swapped out to adapt to each event’s aesthetic and logistical needs. This system ensured:
- Faster assembly and breakdown
- Reduced transportation footprint
- High visual impact with minimal setup complexity
Two of the six containers were multi-brand capable and repurposed for Bombay Gin. At Frequency Festival, the entire Nova Rock setup was transformed for Eristoff—our hook-in system enabled a radical redesign, shifting from a vibrant Caribbean street vibe to an edgy, dark underworld aesthetic.
Innovative Upgrades: Elevating Casa Bacardi in 2024
In 2024, we introduced bold new updates to further enrich the Casa Bacardi experience, transforming it into an even more immersive and engaging brand environment.
The Secret Room: A Hidden VIP Experience
At Parookaville Festival in Weeze, Germany, we reimagined the layout by positioning the DJ on a pedestal in front of Casa Bacardi. This move freed up the terrace container to house our new "Secret Room" for VIP guests.
- Stylish Interiors: A compact bar, sleek shelving, and a long wooden standing table created an intimate and exclusive space.
- Playful Design: A hidden entrance disguised as a bookshelf added an element of mystery and surprise.
- Vibrant Atmosphere: A colorful plexiglass window wall bathed the room in dynamic hues, offering guests a unique view of the DJ, crowd, and festival grounds.
Backstage Artist Area: Comfort in Cuban Style
The artist area was revamped to reflect Bacardi’s Caribbean heritage. Housed in a welcoming tent, we created a relaxed, functional space for performers:
- Comfortable interiors featuring sofas, bean bags, and beach chairs
- Functional storage for artists’ belongings
- A casual front hangout area with Bacardi-branded barrels transformed into stylish standing tables
FOH Expansion: Seamless Functionality
To enhance functionality while maintaining the cohesive Caribbean aesthetic, we expanded the front-of-house (FOH) space by combining two bar containers with a central container:
- Enhanced Workflow: Technicians enjoyed an expanded workspace with a clear view of the stage.
- Cohesive Design: The expanded FOH seamlessly integrated into the immersive Casa Bacardi environment.
A Project That Evolves
Over multiple years of touring with this design, we continued to refine and innovate the Casa Bacardi experience. Each build-up brought fresh challenges and opportunities, allowing us to adapt, learn, and push the boundaries of immersive brand environments. The flexibility of our modular system enabled us to maintain high standards while introducing impactful new elements.
From storage and maintenance during the off-season to full-scale redesigns for brand partners like Bombay Gin and Eristoff, our modular approach demonstrated its versatility and scalability. This ongoing evolution reflects our commitment to delivering memorable and scalable brand experiences that captivate audiences year after year.
